Our First House - Family & Dining Room
In this house, the floor plan was very open, so the ceilings in the family room and dining room (which were adjoined and open) were 2-story cathedral ceilings. I liked the open and bright feel that it gave to this area. We spent most of our time in the family room. After a couple years our couch (which we got while we were in the apartment) was wearing out and tearing, so we got new La-Z-Boy chairs and a couch. We also installed some gas logs in the fireplace, and a light under the ceiling fan so we didn't have to use lamps all the time (and take up floor space with them). Right before we sold the house we installed new carpet in the whole house...
