I have never seen Samantha so excited about anything - she was bouncing off the walls for 2 whole days. She decided she wanted her ears pierced and I made the appointment with her pediatrician. So (lots of questions and bouncing around later), we finally got to the appointment. The doctor talked to her about how to take care of her ears and such. Then she let Sami pick out which earrings she wanted (I thought she would have chosen the ones with diamonds in them but she ended up choosing the silver colored ones). Then she told her exactly what she was going to do and how everything would happen. Then she marked the spots on her ears where they would go (adjusted one a little). Then she put them both in! Sami did great. Her eyes were about to water a little but she did not cry. You could tell she was glad that was over! But... the one on the right (her left) looked funny. It looked like the back of the earring was coming out of the bottom of her ear instead of behind it. Uh oh. Doctor ended up taking that one out and had to do that one over again. As soon as that earring came out the crying started. Apparently that hurts a lot (I can imagine!). Anyway, we got everything straight and composed ourselves for a few minutes before going out into the world with newly pierced ears. It took quite a while to settle into the life of pierced ears but now that she is over the initial pain she is VERY proud of them. Walking through Home Depot, my (VERY SHY) Samantha was telling everyone she saw that her ears were pierced!! She says that she is glad that she did it but that is not something she thinks she wants to ever do again.
