Marty's Birthday Cake - December 7, 2011
So I hadn't really done a decorated cake for Marty before so I decided to do one for his birthday this year. With the top part of a tree falling on his truck and causing a 2-month rebuild project (and another branch falling on it afterwards and denting it again), his truck has been quite the conversation piece for us this year. So I decided his cake should be modelled after his truck. I used cowtails as the front and rear bumpers, twizzlers for the outline of the back and also the taillights, caramel-pecan frosting in the bed of the truck for some contrast, marshmallow headlights, fruit roll-up windows, and reese cup wheels. That is practically a comprehensive list of his favorite candies!! The cake itself was a Betty Crocker Butter Pecan cake mix. It turned out to be a really small cake but that's okay because we always have so much left over (in fact I'm pretty sure I still have some of Sami's carosel cake in the freezer).
